This alphabet is a graphic exploration on how to visually emphasize the sound of each letter in latin languages. Looking at the shape of the letter and the sharpness or the softness of the sound, the alphabet is divided in five categories : sharp (k), soft (b), expressive (o), sharp-soft (f) and sharp-soft-expressive (g). The musicality of the spoken words and sounds is meant to be retranslated visually, underlining the vocalization of each words instead of the meaning within the text. This alphabet can be seen as a scale, vibration elements or waves, or just tools for people to explore and emphasize sounds visually. This alphabet has been translated through different mediums to experiment the versatility of the alphabet : for instance, the prints composition is inspired by cymatics - how water creates different wave patterns according to different sounds or frequencies. The shape of the zine - inspired by barrel organs’sheet music - presents a graphic exploration of Alphawave through text, words or abstract compositions.
